Master Station Controller

Master Station Controller 1001Master station controller (MSC) products provide a cost-effective means for monitoring and control of single thread VSAT or midsized earth stations. Each MSC product has the responsibility for overall control of VSAT earth station equipment, employing single thread or redundant block up converters (BUCs), low-noise block converters (LNBs), and satellite modems of the SCPC or TDM/TDMA variety. The MSC can monitor the status of each component and create a switchover to a hot-standby component when a fault condition is present on the primary component.

Key MSC Features

  •  Support for numerous Comtech SCPC and iDirect TDM/TDMA modems.
  • Support for many BUCs and LNBs including Mitec, Wavesat, Norsat, NJRC, Paradise, Sierracom.

Key MSC-Benefits

  • Managed Network Services Support – Enables transition from unmanaged to managed network services.
  • Multipurpose Functionality Support – Flexible utilization and diverse application support including:
    • Remote monitor and control (M&C).
    • Transponder “grooming."
    • Closed loop (i.e., surveillance).
    • Multitechnology support.
    • Works with many different brands and variations of modems.
    • Remotely Accessible via any available IP link to a client’s NOC.
    • Easily upgradeable with downline loadable software capability.
  • Customization – The MSC can be modified to support additional COTS RF/modem products upon request Any MSC device in a satellite network can be managed remotely (from a customer’s NOC) via any available IP path, either in-network or outside network.Through this capability, a variety of enhanced applications can be supported by the MSC, including:
    • Remote site diagnosis and troubleshooting..
    • Transponder grooming.
    • Closed loop control applications (e.g., surveillance).
    • Redundancy control (MSC-1001 only).

MSC 500

Custom variations of the MSC-500 can be provided to manage nonstandard earth station configurations. The MSC 500 offers multitechnology support and can be used with SCPC, TDM/TDMA and other modems and access technologies.
